About Canadians in Belize

Most information about living in Belize is written for a general expat audience. The Canadian specifics – departure tax, RRSP rules, CPP and OAS for non-residents, provincial healthcare cancellation – are usually missing or wrong.

This site exists to fix that. The guides here are written for Canadians specifically. The tax rules are different. The banking situation is different. The QRP income requirements matter more when your income is CPP and OAS.

What this is

A community resource for Canadians at every stage of the Belize journey:

• Before the move: what to sort out on the Canadian side before you go
• During the transition: banking, legal residency, QRP, getting settled in your district
• After the move: connecting with Canadians already there, housing leads, local contacts

What this is not

A property sales site. There is no developer behind the content. No commissions on property referrals, no lead selling to agents. The guides are independent.
